Get your knockoff shit quick, this bust is about to blow! Louis Vuitton is getting a fresh $61 mil from eBay due to sales of counterfeit goods on the site. LVMH, Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy, comprised of the prestigious Louis Vuitton, Givenchy, Fendi, Pucci, said that the sale of knockoff bags on eBay has affected their sales as well.
Pierre Godet, the adviser to LVMH Chairman and CEO Bernard Arnault, says that this is “an answer to a particularly serious question, on whether the Internet is a free-for-all for the most hateful, parasitic practices.” [...dramatic much? yikes].
In respect to trademark infringement, eBay has made multiple enemies on the high-end side including Tiffany, Rolex, and L’Oreal. And in all honesty, I agree with this. Buying shit off the internet is sketchy enough, now we have to deal with being flim-flammed by dirtbags who are trying to push fake Birkin Bags on us saying that it’s authentic.
Any jerk can spray on two interconnecting C’s and call it Chanel, but don’t try to sell it as “authentic”. I’m all about getting the appropriate knock offs (hell, my new knockoff Dior extreme cut out sandals couldn’t hold a flame to the actual ones) but mine don’t have “DIOR” across the sole of the shoe. eBay will get away with shelling out some skrill and a slap on the wrist, to them $61M aint shit… especially when idiots out there will continue to pay too much for fake things on the internet auction site.
