(Yves Saint Laurent and Catherine Deneuve, 1966)
R.I.P. YVES SAINT LAURENT
(August 1, 1936-June 1, 2008)
The man famed for masculine pant suits for women, thigh high boots, and tuxedo jackets passed away in his home in Paris on Sunday at the age of 71. One of the most iconic men in fashion and innovator to the masses, Saint Laurent lived a full life that was dotted with illness through his older age.
In 1999, he sold his line YSL to Gucci for a whopping $70 million, retaining control of Sanofi Beaute.
A man who has seen the likes of and dressed so many amazing people including Andy Warhol and David Bowie, he became the name on everyones tongue and synonomous with the Paris catwalk, bringing us haute couture and fashion iconography.
Rest in peace, Yves. Our prayers go out to your family and friends and you’ll always be Grey.
